"Mama Means Milk" is a soft cover, picture book with approximately fifteen pages. It features women and children from multi-cultural backgrounds engaged in a variety of activities, including breastfeeding. Some illustrations are close-ups of a nursing child, but all are done in a discreet manner. The message in the book encourages attachment parenting, co-sleeping, child-led weaning, and breastfeeding beyond infancy. The oldest breastfeeding child in the book is between the ages of three and four.

This book is suitable for all age levels and can be used for education in the classrooms from Kindergarten to High School to teach and promote healthy mother-child responses at well-baby clinics, lactation instruction sessions, and birth classes. It can also be used for general public education and exposure. It has also been purchased in bulk to stock public and school libraries.
